Capri oh Capri, how I fell in love with you! Home of the Lemon trees and the sparkling blue waters; a town that literally fell out of a storybook. Capri has a special spot in my heart.
When we first arrived, the weather was far from welcoming, dark clouds hung heavy in the sky and the dramatic waves struck hard against the stone beaches. This Mediterranean jewel is full of history and captivating scenery.
Unfortunately this path was closed due to falling rocks, however, the garden was open for public (3 Euros to enter Garden Giardini Augusto).
We stayed 3 days in Capri but wish we did 5 days or more. Due to bad weather we lost one day moving around and keeping indoors. But even in rainy stormy weather, the island remains captivating. Jon and I went for a short romantic walk in the rain and explored Marina Grande (close to port). The next day we explored its major attractions (see below).
This is Giardini Augusto. It has the perfect bird’s eye view of Capri overlooking I Faraglioni island. It has the feeling of a heavenly garden with a view from the clouds. Seriously, this spot is a must see in Capri!
Spend an hour or two here, you wont regret it. The food in the cafes around is sublime. You can grab a limoncello or a cold smoothie while pondering the scintillating views of Capri. After spending a marvelous morning in Giardini Augusto, we headed to Anacapri next. Anacapri should be on your agenda, it’s absolutely breathtaking. We hopped on a Funicular and then took a chair lift to Monte Solaro and enjoy every silent moment of it, breathe in the picturesque fig trees and the crystal blue waters.
The chair lift takes you to the most radiant part of Italy. Monte Solaro.
Both Anacapri and Capri light up at night and the people drain out as the sunsets.
In the evening, the busy town center gives away to a quite moonlit old European vibe.
Travel Tip: Take the Funicular to move around Capri, it’s the best way to get around. Renting a car is not a good option.
Anacapri has some awesome shopping districts, we walked around for hours and we accidentally made a new friend who was traveling alone from Hollywood California. We had dinner together that evening at a family owned restaurant, I encourage you to step outside the central hub area to find one of those amazing family owned eateries.
Until we meet again my beloved Capri…
Be inspired,
MM
