Ravello is my dream place. Honestly, this town is by far my favorite of all the Amalfi coast. Actually, Ravello and Capri are my top 2 favs! Ravello makes you feel like you’re in a dream and even if you pinched yourself over and over again, you’ll still feel like you’re dreaming.
The air, the mountains, the people, the pebble stone streets and the ancient town center with its magnificent gardens, all of it make this place an Eden within an Italian flare. Ravello is known for its art, outdoor symphonies, ceramics, gorgeous lemon trees, cute cafes, and calm/laid back atmosphere.
We visited two of their popular gardens; Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. Villa Cimbrone dates back from the 11th century, it’s known for the famous terrace, Terrazzo dell’Infinito, which means the “Terrace of Infinity”, it’s situated in the clouds overlooking the glistening coastal water. It’s like God had dropped it from the heavens onto a plateau.
Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as you will be taking many steps to reach the villa. The admission fee cost is 7 euros but totally worth it. You will find some old inscriptions from famous writers including the Roman poet Catullus. Medieval town vibes everywhere.
Villa Rufolo overlooks the cathedral center and hosts outdoor symphonies during the summer months. It’s rich in history and dates back to the 13th century; moreover, it claimed to have more rooms than the number of days in a year.
Its location captures the best views of the mediterranean sea which are absolutely exceptional! If you are going to Ravello, you can’t miss this artistic treasure as it is in the main hub of Ravello.
I loved every waking minute of being there. Do yourself a favor and go visit this stunning place. You will need more than 4 days to really soak it all in. You’ll truly witness a scenic beauty that’s unlike any other.
In the town center of Ravello, there are many restaurants and shops that are worth exploring. I remember having vegan ice cream there, which gave me both Jon and I enough sugar rush to walk the town center twice.
Be sure to watch the video above to see what I’m talking about. Literally, each fragment of your imagination will be awakened when you step foot into this incredible medieval town.
Be inspired,
MM
