DIY-How to make Bath Bombs

Hi everyone, it’s been such a long hiatus but I am back with an amazing DIY for you. It’s going to put you in a relaxing mood for sure. I always thought Bath bombs are hard to make at home but I was SO wrong. The ingredients were sitting in my kitchen cupboards all along.

I figured out a way to make them from all NATURAL and CLEAN ingredients without any artificial dyes or added chemicals. The store-bought bath bombs usually contain fragrances and other synthetics. In case you didn’t know, the word fragrance is an umbrella for 1000s of other ingredients that could be toxic, highly irritating, and could disrupt your hormones. Fragrances can contain benzene derivatives, which are carcinogens; aldehydes, which can increase the risk of inhaled allergies and liver disease; as well as phthalates, which can decrease hormone levels, and have also been linked to some forms of cancer.

Long story short, it’s best to opt for all-natural ingredients or make your own. It’s super easy, here is how:

You will need the following:

1 cup Baking soda

1/2 cup citric acid (put in the blender to powderize it for better texture)

1/2 cup corn starch

1/4 Epsom salt (to turn this into a fine powder, put in the blender)

Wet ingredients:

2-3 teaspoons of oil (you can use coconut or castor oil, argan oil, hemp seed oil, sea buckthorn oil)

1-2 teaspoon of essential oil of choice

All-natural food coloring for fun

Bath bomb molds or you can use a Christmas ornament

Directions:

Mix all your dry ingredients in one bowl and then divide the mixture in half by placing in it into two different bowls

Mix all your wet ingredients except for the food coloring

You need to split the wet ingredients in half and add the desired food coloring in each half. You should have 2 different colors.

Add a few tablespoons at a time of the first color (wet mixture) to firs half of dry mixture bowls. Whisk continuously as you add the wet to the dry mixture. Repeat the same with the second half of the wet and dry mixture. The consistency should be semi-dry, more like sand, not super dry nor wet.

Place rose petals (optional) in the mold then add the first color mixture in one half of the mold or you can create your own ombre effect however you like. Pack it tightly and firmly (you can use a spoon) and let the mixture sit in the mold for few seconds before removing it. It should come out easily. Leave bath bomb overnight in a cool dry, you can pop them in the fridge if you want to firm up then store them in a glass container or wrap them with wax paper and store them away in a cool place.

There are so many health benefits to Epsom salt baths. It helps with sleep and stress reduction, exercise performance and recovery, reduce pain and swelling, it helps with constipation, restores skin elasticity, relieves asthma, it boosts blood circulation and moisturizes the body. I highly recommend treating yourself by taking a bath and soaking all your worries away.

Be Inspired,

MM
