Lost in Corsica – France

This French island is less than an hour away from Sardinia (by ferry). Corsica is somewhat in the middle of the Mediterranean sea and a couple hundred kilometers away from the beloved French Riviera. White light limestone clifftops towering above this ancient city. The overall landscape and the crystal deep blue water are so mesmerizing.

The main spoken language on the island is French (yes you guessed it). We tried to speak in English with some of the locals but the language barrier failed us many times. I encourage you to use Google translator and let the locals read your questions or comments off the app itself. Google translator can be a freakin’ life savor sometimes.

We spent 3 days in Corsica, which felt like a bit too much but time passes by so quickly when you’re discovering new places. Corsica is a big island, so take your time if you really want to see it all; most people go for a day trip from Sardinia to Bonifacio. I personally don’t recommend a day trip because by the ferry arrives at peak hour and it gets super crowded. It took us about a full day exploring the Bonifacio area, and spent a whole day in  Porto Vecchio-Santa Giulia. The view from up top of Santa Giulia is breathtaking but when we got down to the beach, we were shocked to see it dirty and smelly due to seaweed spread everywhere. Perhaps the time we were there wasn’t a good time to visit the beach but yet it was jammed with people.

I personally recommend that you stay at least one full day to see Bonifacio. After our second day, we felt a bit stranded as we didn’t want to drive 5 hrs to check out the other side of Corsica such as  Piana or Calvi (we heard it’s gorgeous in that region) but we ended up exploring more of Bonifacio on our third day. We walked along the harbor area, we had a lovely lunch and we browsed around the old French village nearby. You can see more of Bonifacio in my next post.

Travel Tip: Rent a car if you going to either Sardinia or Corsica, it will come handy and will minimize the struggle of getting around. We didn’t have problems finding parking, and we were ok taking the car on the ferry from Sardinia to Corsica, just make sure the rental car allows you to take the car to another country.

Be sure to check out my next blog post on Bonifacio. Outfit details will be in the Fashion segment. You want to see more, hop over to my youtube channel or Instagram. All links are down below.

Be inspired,
