Hiking up Sardinia

Gennargentu national park will make you feel like a tiny little creature with an utter disconnection to the outside world.

Driving to the park was an experience on its own. I remember being in the car with my jaw down to my chin, my eyes full of confusion “am I dreaming?” This place is indescribable. Everywhere I looked I was surrounded with HUGE HUGE mountains that seemed beyond endless.

Let me first tell you, I wasn’t planning on going on a hike that day. The plan was to visit few of the famous beaches in the area but Jon really wanted to check out this one spot for a quick second lol he said…..and  4 hours later we were absolutely drained out. Ask me why?

I know I look dead here-2 hrs into the hike.

The hike was so long and tough but so damn scenic. I’m glad I didn’t wear my bathing suit to this one. The hike was totally worth it but not for the view from up top as the cave which was supposed to be seen from the top had already collapsed. Jon was very disappointed when we made it all the way to the top to find nothing was there but you know what? It was an adventure that we’ll never forget as we hiked the rugged old mountains, the rocks were slippery and tough to walk on and at one point I had to walk sideways thru a narrow wall that takes you closer to the lookout point (that part was a bit scary as it was a highly elevated yet narrow path that could have gone south if I wasn’t careful lol).

Definitely wear running shoes to this! Bring water and food if you plan on hiking it, there are no restaurants or cafes around the area, it’s completely out in secluded ancient nature so be prepared and enjoy the adventure.

Check out the video to see the magnificent mountain views.

Be inspired,

MM
